•The Ariela is a paper bag style ruched skirt made out of a vintage pillowcase. The embroidered cutouts placed on the waistline not only serve as the decorative motif on the skirt, but also functions by cinching the waist in.

“Carmen Rivera is a designer currently based in both NYC and Puerto Rico. Her work is characterized by a reduced approach to a timeless wardrobe. Pieces that have a point of view with no specific sense of time or trend. Meant to be worn in, styled through the decades, and passed on.”

RESCUED MATERIALS

AIDA has provided most of the fabric selection (vintage and antique linens) used on these garments and Carmen has rescued fabrics and trims from her archive that didn't make the cut during the design process of previous collections. The styles were designed in conversation over the course of the summer/fall months via FaceTime. <3
