About AIDA
AIDA is dedicated to my grandmother who was born and raised in Yauco, Puerto Rico.
We are a shop & creative studio based in San Juan, PR.
We buy & sell vintage, collaborate with designers, create from forgotten textiles, and encourage a circular economy.
AIDA began as a return—to Puerto Rico, to heritage, and to the quiet influence of the women who shaped us.
Founder Maru Aldea spent 15 years in the fashion industry between New York and Baltimore.
Vintage had always been her anchor, first through her grandmother’s wardrobe and later through years of collecting pieces that carried history and intention.
After Hurricane Maria, Maru came home. What she found was a community rebuilding through creativity and collaboration.
AIDA grew from that energy: a vintage project rooted in resilience, its design spirit, and the rooms and memories we outgrew but never truly left behind.
Today, AIDA curates classic, timeless, special occasion vintage and small-batch one-of-a-kind pieces through Aida STUDIO, honoring what already exists while reimagining its possibilities.
Most of our community is Puerto Rican—on the island or across the diaspora—supporting local craft from wherever they are.
AIDA is an homage: to grandmothers, to home, to the textures of places that formed us. It is also a commitment—to slower fashion, thoughtful sourcing, and creating beauty that remembers where it came from.
